Hasselkroken Kanvas nursery school was established in February 1979 as a staff nursery school for Radiumhospitalet. Since January 2009, Stiftelsen Kanvas has run the nursery, which offers approximately 80 places in six departments for children aged 0-6. The nursery is located near Radiumhospitalet and has access to varied hiking areas, which provides good opportunities for outdoor activities. The outdoor area has natural land and borders Mærradalen, which gives the children a rich environment for play and exploration.
Hasselkroken Kanvas kindergarten emphasizes learning through play and everyday situations, with a focus on developing social skills and good relationships between children and adults. The Kanvas foundation, of which the kindergarten is a part, is Norway's largest kindergarten foundation with non-profit purposes, and aims to improve children's upbringing and parents' everyday life. At Kanvas, there is an obligation that at least half of the employees have nursery teacher training, and all employees receive regular professional training to ensure a high-quality play and learning environment.
