Nordre Åsen Kanvas kindergarten is located in Muselunden, a large green area in Oslo. The nursery has three departments that accept children from 10 months to 6 years. Emphasis is placed on play, learning, humour, friendship and security in everyday life. The staff is stable and experienced, with long seniority, and all employees have educational training. The nursery also has a garden project called "Fra jord til bord", where the children have the opportunity to grow vegetables and flowers.
Kanvas is Norway's largest kindergarten foundation with non-profit purposes, and Nordre Åsen is part of this network which includes 66 kindergartens. The foundation focuses on improving children's upbringing and parents' everyday life by offering a good play and learning environment. At Kanvas, there is an obligation for at least half of the employees to have nursery teacher training, and there is a continuous focus on professional development. The nursery practices sibling prioritization in admissions and has a vision to create "A good everyday life for young and old".
