Rudshøgda Kanvas nature nursery is located in Oslo and offers a unique learning environment with a focus on play and learning out in the forest. The nursery places an emphasis on motor, social and language development in the children, and has a varied outdoor area with shelters, an outdoor grill and motor equipment. The children get the opportunity to sleep outside in gapa huts or hammocks, which gives them a closeness to nature. Cooking from scratch is part of everyday life, in which the children participate actively, and two hot meals a week are served with a focus on healthy eating.
Kanvas is Norway's largest kindergarten foundation with non-profit purposes, and operates a total of 66 kindergartens. The organisation's aim is to improve children's growing up conditions and parents' everyday life through quality nurseries with competent and committed staff. At Kanvas, there is a strong focus on equality, diversity and tolerance, and at least half of the employees must have nursery school teacher training. The nursery also participates in research and development projects to promote innovative thinking in the nursery sector.
