Tinkern Kanvas nursery school is a nursery school in Oslo that has capacity for 127 children aged 0-6, divided into seven departments. The nursery has a diverse group of staff with variation in age, gender, education and cultural background. Emphasis is placed on quality in relationships between adults and children, as well as the development of social competence. The nursery offers three meals a day, with a focus on nutritious and varied food, including smoothies on birthdays.
As part of Kanvas, Norway's largest non-profit daycare foundation, Tinkern contributes to improving children's upbringing and parents' everyday life. Kanvas aims to create a good play and learning environment, where children and adults are treated equally. It is a requirement that at least half of the employees have nursery teacher training, and all employees receive regular professional training. The nursery also has its own gymnasium and water room, which are used weekly by all departments to promote physical activity.
