Vækerø Gård Kanvas kindergarten is a small three-section kindergarten with room for a total of 36 children. The kindergarten is located in scenic surroundings in the Engelske park, close to the sea, which provides unique opportunities for play and physical development. Emphasis is placed on seeing each individual child as equal, and children's play is considered an important learning arena. Employees act as good role models, with a focus on empathy and inclusion in the interaction with the children.
As part of Kanvas, Norway's largest non-profit daycare foundation, Vækerø Gård contributes to improving children's upbringing and parents' everyday life. Kanvas has a clear focus on equality, diversity and tolerance, and ensures that at least half of the employees have nursery teacher training. The nursery also participates in research and development projects, and staff receive regular professional training to promote children's development and learning.
