Tømrer og Snekkernes fagforening was founded in 1885 and organizes skilled workers in construction trades in Oslo. The association includes professional groups such as carpenters, joiners, roofers, plumbers, glaziers and fitters. Throughout its long history, the trade union has worked to safeguard its members' interests and rights in the construction industry.
In 1994, Stiftelsen Byggfag was established to manage funds from the sale of holiday homes, which helps to support the members. In 2005, the Stockmann Hammer Prize was established to promote freedom of expression within the construction industry. The union also offers activities and courses for members, as well as engages in collective bargaining to ensure fair working conditions.
