The Norwegian Institute of Wood Technology, also known as the Norwegian Wood Technology Institute, was established in 1949 as a branch research institute for the wood industry in Norway. The institute is recognized as Norway's leading professional environment in wood and wood use, and aims to promote research and development in this sector. With approximately 30 employees and a turnover of approx. NOK 50 million, the institute acts as an important competence partner for the wood industry.
The institute offers a wide range of services, including research, consultancy, testing, as well as product and condition assessments. It is also an accredited mechanical testing laboratory that certifies according to Japanese standards for glulam and structural timber. With its focus on quality and innovation, the Norwegian Institute of Wood Technology plays a central role in the development of wood products and technologies in Norway.
