Ruter is an administration company that is responsible for public transport in Oslo and parts of Viken. The company accounts for more than half of public transport in Norway. In 2019, 398 million public transport journeys were registered in the area, which illustrates the extensive use of public transport among the inhabitants.
Ruter works together with customers, partners, owners and authorities to promote public transport, as well as cycling and walking alternatives, as part of a sustainable freedom of movement. This concept focuses on facilitating a good life, social justice and the sustainable development of cities and regions. The company has also set itself the goal that all means of transport should use renewable energy, with the aim of reducing both local and global climate emissions.
