Old Aker Church, which was built around 1150, is the oldest existing building in Oslo. The church is a medieval stone church and has a baroque pulpit. It belongs to the Lutheran tradition and is known for its historical and cultural values.
The church has two affiliated churches, Gamle Aker church and Lovisenberg church, and offers a number of church services and activities. Among the special events is the Autumn programme, which includes various activities, as well as Gamle Aker Sunday, where a new processional cross is inaugurated. The baptismal font dedication includes a replica of a historic baptismal font from 1715.
Old Aker Church also functions as a forum for faith and thought, with a focus on Luther and the Reformation. In addition, tours are offered in the Lovisenberg museum, and from the church year 2024-25 sermons will be available to the congregation.
