Oslo Jazz Festival was established in 1986 and has since then developed into one of Norway's largest jazz festivals. The festival organizes over 70 concerts annually in week 33, and covers a wide range of jazz styles. The concerts take place at 10-15 different locations in the center of Oslo, which gives the public the opportunity to experience music in varied and exciting surroundings.

In addition to the paid concerts, the festival includes a free jazz party in Spikersuppa, which gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy jazz music. The festival also has a strong focus on the environment and sustainability, as well as its own programs for young talent, which helps to promote future generations of jazz musicians. Special events such as "Jazz at MUNCH" are also part of the festival's offer. Past festival performers have included household names such as Pat Metheny and Joshua Redman.
