Norsk Elektroteknisk Komite (NEK) is an independent and neutral member organization responsible for standardization work within electrical installations and electronic communication in Norway. The organization has an active membership of nearly 900 committee members, which includes experts from business, administration and authorities. NEK operates approximately 100 standardization committees, which work with skills development and networking within their field.
NEK is based at Lilleaker in Oslo and has 12 employees. The organization is engaged in international cooperation and mirrors around 140 international committees. It is also the Norwegian member of the European standardization organization CENELEC and the global organization IEC. In 2025, NEK celebrates 113 years of standardization, which underlines its long history and importance in electrotechnical standardization. NEK also offers conferences, courses and seminars to promote knowledge and development in the industry.
