UKS Young Artists' Society, also known as Unge Kunstneres Samfund, was established in 1921 by artists for artists. The organization functions as a display venue for international contemporary art and has developed into an important platform for experimental art practices in Norway. UKS offers unique exhibition spaces that provide room for critical and innovative artistic expressions.
In addition to exhibitions, UKS organizes reading circles and meetings specifically aimed at neurodivergent cultural workers, which contributes to an inclusive environment for different artistic voices. The organization also has a political membership for artists, and hosts a number of cultural events and parties. Every year they open applications for artistic programs and grants, which provides opportunities for both established and new artists. UKS is open to everyone, with no entrance fee, and wants to promote contemporary art in a broad societal perspective.
