Frysja Kunstsenter is an artists' community located in old factory buildings at the upper part of the Akerselva in Oslo. The center is owned by Oslo municipality and managed by the Norwegian Cultural Agency. It offers subsidized studios to 53 professional artists, and aims to support both artisans and visual artists.
In order to be allocated a studio space, artists must submit applications which are assessed by an allocation committee. The committee assesses the applications based on artistic activity and quality, which helps to maintain a high artistic standard in the community. Frysja Art Center thus functions as a platform for development and collaboration among artists, and promotes a creative environment in Oslo.
