The Clothes Iron Art School AS, also known as Strykejernet Art School, has been part of Oslo's art education for over 30 years. The school offers a basic art education that extends over 1-2 years, and is aimed at both beginners and those who wish to further develop their artistic skills. The teaching includes courses in drawing, graphics, three-dimensional art and painting, with a focus on both practical and theoretical aspects of art learning.
The school is housed in two old industrial buildings by Akerselva, where one building has roots dating back to the 19th century as a dye factory, while the other has a history as a metal and welding workshop. This provides a unique and inspiring environment for artistic development. The school also has a spacious graphics workshop with equipment for woodcuts, screen printing and etching, which gives students the opportunity to explore different techniques in graphics.
