The Military Hospital Foundation from the Empire Quarter was built in 1807 as a military hospital, designed by master carpenter Johan Raphael Pousette. The building is a large, unpanelled, half-timbered building which has a characteristic design with a short and a long wing standing perpendicular to each other. The timber used in its construction was sourced from the state's rectory forests, underscoring the building's historical and local significance.

After being decommissioned for many years, the Military Hospital was rebuilt between 1981 and 1984. The building's connection to the Empire Quarter gives it an important place in Oslo's history, and it represents part of the city's cultural heritage. The foundation works to preserve and communicate this historical significance.
