Arkivforbundet is a professional and nationwide interest organization whose aim is to preserve and disseminate both municipal and private archives. The organization is unique in its specific focus on archival issues and works to promote archival knowledge and awareness of the importance of archives in society.
To support this work, the Norwegian Archives Association offers a scholarship scheme for study tours, which aims to strengthen expertise in the field of archives. In addition, they organize Archives Day, an event which aims to raise awareness of the role of archives. The organization also organizes seminars that deal with knowledge and education in archive management, as well as meetings with political actors to promote archive policy.
