The University of Oslo Natural History Museum, department Økern, is Norway's largest natural history museum. The museum has a wide range of exhibitions covering topics in zoology, geology and climate. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum offers a botanical garden that functions as a living museum, where visitors can experience a diversity of plants and ecosystems.
The museum arranges tours and various events, and there are adapted teaching programs for schools and kindergartens. A new photography exhibition entitled "TRANSLUCENCE" is also available to visitors. Through its collections and research activities, the museum provides insight into 4.5 billion years of natural history, and contributes to the dissemination of knowledge about nature's diversity and development.
