The channel's origins can be traced back to January 2017, when it was started as a small online project to entertain listeners via a kitchen radio in Skiptvet Municipality. In September 2024, Dansbandradioen was taken over by Metro Gruppen AS, which expanded the distribution of the channel to DAB in several counties, including Innlandet, Akershus, Oslo, Østfold, Buskerud and Agder. The channel is available on DAB, in the Dinlyd app and online, which makes it easily accessible to a wide audience.
