The Natural History Museum in Oslo is an institution that focuses on natural history and science. The museum houses an extensive collection of around 6 million objects, which are used by researchers in the field of biological and geological natural diversity. Over 70 researchers are associated with the museum, and study opportunities are offered with access to objects and fieldwork.
The museum also includes a botanical garden that has over 4,500 plant species from around the world. Visitors can take part in free tours of the garden, as well as experience special exhibitions such as the Climate House, which conveys themes related to climate, the environment and sustainability. In addition, the museum has recently acquired two new dinosaurs, Zelda and Zara, and offers educational services for schools and kindergartens. The insect hotel Tøyen bee & bee is another attraction that promotes awareness of the role of insects in the ecosystem.
