The Norwegian Maritime Museum is a nationwide museum whose aim is to preserve and disseminate Norway's maritime cultural heritage. The museum offers both indoor and outdoor exhibitions, and is located in a unique maritime environment. Visitors can explore exhibitions that focus on traditional boats as well as archaeological finds from the 16th and 17th centuries. Among the highlights is a replica of the Viking boat from the Gokstad find, which was constructed by KLINK boat building.

The museum collaborates with the Cultural History Museum and the Viking Ship House, which contributes to a broader understanding of Norway's maritime history. An outdoor exhibition also marks the 100th anniversary of Svalbard as part of Norway. In addition to the informative exhibitions, the museum offers a varied program of experiences and activities for visitors, as well as a cafe and terrace with a view of the fjord.
