The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History is Europe's largest and oldest open-air museum, located in Oslo. The museum comprises 160 buildings ranging from the Middle Ages to modern times, and gives visitors the opportunity to explore exhibitions that shed light on daily life and living conditions in Norway throughout history. The collection includes both outdoor buildings and indoor exhibitions that provide insight into Norwegian culture and lifestyle.
In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum offers a number of services. Café Arkadia gives visitors the opportunity to take a break, while the shop has a selection of Norwegian and Nordic craft products. The museum also arranges group tours and learning programs for schools, as well as hiring out function rooms for various events. It is also possible to carry out film and TV recordings in the area. The Norwegian Folk Museum's Dance Group offers trial lessons, which give an extra dimension to the experience of Norwegian culture.
