The Skating Museum in Oslo is a museum dedicated to skating as an Olympic competitive sport. The museum has an extensive exhibition highlighting the history and development of skating, including a collection of awards and skates from famous skaters such as Axel Paulsen and Oscar Mathisen. In addition, the exhibition includes a section on the history of figure skating, focusing on the famous figure skater Sonja Henie.
Established in 1914, the museum is run by volunteers and owned by a foundation that involves both the Oslo Skøiteklub and the Norwegian Skøyteforbund. The museum also displays all winners of the Oscar statuette, which gives a broad perspective on the importance of ice skating in Norwegian sports history. Emphasis is placed on continuous development of the exhibition, and visitors are encouraged to provide feedback to improve the experience.
