Hengsåsen is a hill that forms the northern part of Bygdøy in Oslo. The area is characterized by steep cliffs that stretch down towards Bestumkilen, and the higher parts of the ridge have exposed Cambrosilurian rock. Hengsåsen has an interesting geological history, as it used to be an island known as Hengsøya before the uplift caused it to become part of the mainland.

In addition to its natural beauty, Hengsåsen houses a historic farmhouse from the 1850s, which was used by employees at Bygdøy royal estate. The area is also known for Hengsåsen café, which has been in operation since the 1870s. The café was extended in 1881 and has since been a popular place for visitors who want to enjoy nature and the historic atmosphere.
