The Directorate for Social Security and Preparedness (DSB) is a government agency under the Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness. DSB's main task is to contribute to social security and preparedness in Norway. This includes preventing and managing crises and disasters, as well as ensuring that society is well equipped to face various types of threats and incidents.
The agency works with a number of areas, including fire and explosion protection, civil protection, and emergency planning. DSB also provides advice and guidance to municipalities, businesses and residents on how they can prepare for and handle crisis situations. Through research, analysis and collaboration with other actors, DSB contributes to developing and implementing national strategies for social security.
