Riksantikvaren is a directorate for cultural heritage management with its head office in Oslo. The office works with the protection of cultural monuments, the cultural environment and landscape, and aims to preserve Norway's cultural heritage for future generations. Riksantikvaren offers access to a library and archives that contain extensive resources related to cultural monuments and the cultural environment.
In addition to traditional services, the National Archives offers digital resources, including templates for administrative work and map and data services. The office also focuses on environmental monitoring programmes, energy saving and crisis preparedness. The National Antiquities Office provides guidance for the discovery of old objects and metal detecting, as well as arranging courses and sample collections for cultural environment data.
