The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) is a government agency whose main task is to contribute to sustainable development and the fight against poverty globally. The agency works to manage Norway's aid to developing countries, and focuses on areas such as education, health, climate and environment, as well as economic development. Norad is also responsible for following up and evaluating projects and programs that receive Norwegian development aid.
Norad collaborates with a number of international organisations, civil society organizations and private actors to achieve its goals. Through research and knowledge sharing, the agency contributes to developing effective strategies for aid and development. Norad is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reports directly to this authority, which ensures that Norwegian development policy is in line with national and international goals.
