The Norwegian Machinist's Association is a trade union affiliated to Unio, and targets members in maritime and technical professions. The association's aim is to promote safe and secure workplaces, with particular emphasis on health, environment and safety (HSE). The organization takes place through six business areas, which make it possible to adapt offers and services to specific needs within the various sectors.
The association offers courses and events for shop stewards, and actively participates in political work to safeguard members' rights. Members have access to a membership register containing collective agreements, which can be useful in negotiations and in understanding rights and obligations. The Norwegian machinists' union has recently elected a new union board, including a union chairman and deputy chairman, who will lead the work going forward, including the involvement in collective bargaining with the coastal shipping companies.
