The association !les is a non-profit membership organization established in 1997, with the aim of promoting a love of reading and creating readers among children and young people. The organization has over 40 member organizations from various parts of book-Norway and annually reaches around 300,000 children and young people, as well as close to 10,000 teachers and librarians. All the measures offered are free and have a national reach, including projects in schools and in other arenas.
Among the !les association's initiatives are Bokstart and various reading passion projects, as well as LESEkiosks that provide the opportunity to exchange books. The organization is also behind the literary prizes Ungdommens criticikpris, Bokslukerprisen and Uprisen. In 2025, the 100 list will be launched, a resource for mediators and teachers. The association !les has more than 50 years of experience from the reading industry and has received several awards, including the book industry's honorary award, Gullegget, in 2017, as well as nominations for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA).
