The Foundation Kontrollrådet is based in Oslo and functions as an organization that administers certifications within the building materials area. Since its establishment in December 1967, the Kontrollrådet has aimed to operate a statutory control and approval scheme, primarily in the area of concrete. The business has later been expanded to include voluntary schemes for several product areas related to concrete.
The organization offers services to both public and private businesses, and has approximately 750 affiliated companies. The Control Council focuses on system certification within quality, the environment and the working environment, as well as product certification for ready-mixed concrete, aggregates and asphalt. The certification process for companies is an important part of their offer, and they publish information letters and circulars to keep members professionally up-to-date.
