Geitmyra visitor greenhouse in Oslo is a non-commercial foundation whose aim is to promote public health through food enjoyment and healthy food. The foundation focuses on teaching children and young people about nutrition and cooking, and offers school lessons, leisure courses and open events. The visitor greenhouse integrates sustainable cooking and Sami food culture in its activities, and uses cooking as a tool for practical learning in subjects such as maths.
In addition to teaching and courses, Geitmyra organizes special food parties, such as mutton cabbage festival and potato festival, which help to create a social community. The visitor greenhouse functions as a green and social meeting place for the neighbourhood, with a variety of activities aimed at children and young people. The Geitmyra visitor greenhouse plans to open in the spring of 2024, and has activities in several cities, including Kristiansand, Ringsaker and Tønsberg, with support from Eckbo's grants and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
