The Maskinentreprenørenes Association (MEF) is a trade and employer organization that represents over 2,400 companies within the construction industry, including mechanical construction companies, forestry contractors, well drillers as well as recycling and waste companies. The organization is independent and has a main agreement with LO, as well as two nationwide collective agreements. MEF stands outside NHO.
MEF offers a range of services to its members, including free legal help, skills development through the MEF school, and quality assurance via SmartMEF, which also includes HSE and project management. Members get access to useful documents and templates for employers, as well as good trade agreements. The organization also organizes free tours and themed evenings, and has launched the podcast "Anleggspraten" which addresses relevant topics for the industry.
