Norway's churches is a project that focuses on research and documentation of Norwegian church buildings. This initiative comprises a comprehensive collection of information on 500 churches, which includes 20,000 pages of text and 17,000 photographs. The project was digitized in 2005/2006 by the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) in collaboration with the main organization KA.
The documentation provides detailed descriptions of both architecture and historical elements linked to the churches. The collection includes stone churches from the Middle Ages as well as newer buildings, and contributes to a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical significance of churches in Norway. This work is an important part of cultural heritage management and the preservation of the country's religious heritage.
