The Norwegian Character Analysis Institute (NKI) is an organization that offers specialist training in character analysis and body-oriented psychotherapy. The education is structured in a two-year basic seminar and a two-year upper secondary seminar, where the basic seminar can be taken independently of the upper secondary. The total education of four years provides a solid foundation for a specialty in psychotherapy, recognized by the Norwegian Psychological Association.
The institute has trained psychotherapists since 1999 and emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach. The teaching combines practical exercises and patient work with theoretical knowledge, where the focus is on non-verbal and emotional aspects in therapeutic dialogue. NKI draws inspiration from various disciplines, including psychoanalysis, developmental psychology and neuropsychology, which contributes to a holistic understanding of psychotherapy.
