The Norwegian Forest Owners Association represents approximately 30,000 forest owners in Norway and its main focus is business policy and public relations. The association works actively for political influence on the framework conditions for the forestry and wood industry, with the aim of promoting sustainable forestry and environmental considerations. Through participation in international organizations and events such as Arendalsuka, they help to inform about the importance of forestry and counter myths related to the sector.
The association is part of Norway's Forest Owners' Association, which functions as a superstructure for four forest owners' cooperatives and represents approx. 35,000 forest owners. Collectively, they account for approximately 80 percent of the timber turnover in Norway, and have significant stakes in both the Norwegian and international forest industry. The main tasks include promoting value creation, supporting private property rights and ensuring long-term management of forest resources, which also contributes to green growth in local communities.
