The Norwegian Society of Composers is a trade and interest organization for professional composers, founded in 1917. The organization works to promote and support composers' interests, and offers various support schemes for the realization of musical ideas. It is a member of ECSA (European Composer and Songwriter Alliance) and has a particular focus on equality and diversity within the music field.
In addition to support schemes, the Norwegian Society of Composers offers work stays, which include Bibalohuset in Larvik and an apartment in Brussels. The organization also organizes awards such as Work of the Year and Performer of the Year, which honor outstanding achievements in music. They also provide guidance on fees, contracts and copyright, and work to make Norwegian contemporary music visible.
