The Sri Lankan Association of Norway, also known as SLAN, was established in 1984 with the aim of promoting friendship and cooperation between Sri Lankans and Norwegians. The organization has a long history of cultural events that include dinners and dance performances, as well as celebrations of important holidays such as Independence Day, Sri Lankan New Year and Christmas. Through these activities, the association seeks to strengthen the ties between its members and share Sri Lankan culture with Norwegian society.
In addition to cultural activities, the Sri Lankan Association of Norway engages in various social and charitable projects. The organization organizes music and sports events, such as softball tournaments, and focuses especially on children and young people. The charity work includes educational grants and water supply projects. As a 100% volunteer-run and religiously neutral association, SLAN is a platform for unity and support for its members.
