Norwegian Maritime Evening School, also known as Norsk Maritimt Kurssenter (NMKS), is one of Norway's largest private maritime schools. Since its inception in 1981, the school has trained maritime professionals and offers a wide range of courses for both the leisure and business markets. The school has administration in Oslo, but is almost nationwide with course locations all along the coast, from Østfold to Finnmark.
NMKS is approved by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, Bureau Veritas and Telenor Kystradio, and offers courses such as Leisure Skipper D5L, Coastal Skipper D5 and Deck Officer D6. In addition, specialized courses are offered in passenger and crisis management, as well as an international boat operator's certificate (ICC). Many of the courses are conducted online with an instructor, which gives participants the flexibility to participate from different locations. The school focuses on adapting the training to the participants' needs, and has thus developed a modern approach to maritime education.
