Jernbanens Båtforening was founded on 5 June 1907 and is one of the oldest boat associations in Norway. The association has its current harbor in Nordbukta on Hovedøya, where the marinas were established after an extensive development that was completed in 1963. Before this, the association's marina was located in the lower part of Akerselva, but had to be moved due to the construction of the new Central Station. The expansion of the port was financially supported by Oslo Municipality.
The association offers a social and inclusive environment for boating enthusiasts and emphasizes community and cooperation among its members. Various activities and events are arranged for the members, and there are opportunities to learn about boating and sailing. The location on Hovedøya gives members proximity to nature and the beautiful archipelago, which contributes to an active outdoor life.
