Ullevål Hospital Building 35 is part of Oslo University Hospital and houses an acute psychiatric reception unit. This unit has seven beds and offers both somatic and psychiatric assessment for patients who need urgent help. The average length of stay for patients is just under two days, and decisions about further treatment are made at the reception unit.
The unit aims to provide a thorough assessment of the patients' condition, and around half of the patients are transferred to other acute psychiatric units for further treatment. In addition to emergency treatment, the reception unit offers courses and training for both patients and their relatives, which can contribute to a better understanding and handling of mental health challenges.
