OsloMet Oceanlab, also known as the Ocean Laboratory, is part of OsloMet and focuses on research and innovation in ocean technology and sustainability. The laboratory coordinates projects that aim to develop innovative technologies with a positive impact on the marine environment. This includes collaboration between the Department of Mechanical, Electronic and Chemical Engineering and Makerspace, where different disciplines meet to promote creativity and innovation.
An important part of the work at OsloMet Oceanlab is the use of underwater drones, which are used to detect pollution in the sea. In addition, the laboratory collaborates with OsloMet AI-lab to develop unmanned surface vessels, which can contribute to more efficient methods for monitoring and research in marine environments. OsloMet Oceanlab was officially opened with a ceremony on 10 September, and aims to contribute to the sustainable development of ocean-related activities through its projects.
