The Bergesenstiftelsen is a foundation whose aim is to support cultural and humanitarian projects. It emphasizes local ownership and democratic participation, and works to strengthen community engagement through collaboration with the Urban Anthropologists. The foundation is also known for the Oslo game "A place to be", which pays tribute to the city's drug history.
In addition to cultural initiatives, the Bergesen Foundation awards the Bergesen Prize, which focuses on environmental work and comes with a grant of NOK 2 million. The foundation also supports projects in addiction care, volunteering, culture, sustainability and research. In 2025, the Bergesenstiftelsen will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
