Bydelsmødre is a non-profit organization that was started by Nasreen Begum in 2016. The organization is based on voluntary work and has established groups in nine districts of Oslo and in six municipalities. Bydelsmødre aims to train women to become district mothers, and has so far trained 263 people with backgrounds from 60 different countries. The participants in the program speak a total of 62 different languages, which contributes to a diverse and inclusive community.
The organization acts as a bridge-builder between the public and local communities, with a focus on training in family, health and society. Bodelsmødre also offers a network for women who want to make a positive contribution to their local communities. Through their work, they promote cooperation and understanding between different cultures and contribute to strengthening ties in the neighbourhoods.
