FolkOrg is an organization dedicated to folk music and folk dance, with the aim of promoting and preserving Norwegian cultural heritage. The organization offers membership benefits and various support schemes for both performers and groups who want to get involved in folk music and folk dance. Through its work, FolkOrg contributes to the recruitment of children and young people for bands and orchestras, as well as facilitating performers by compensating for TONO expenses.
FolkOrg organizes several important cultural events, including the National Festival of Traditional Dance Music, the Landskappleiken and Folkarm, which give performers the opportunity to showcase themselves and compete. The organization also has a specialist committee that focuses on children and young people, and has been active in cultural policy work, including calling for changes to NRK's music offering. In 2023, FolkOrg marks its 100th anniversary, which underlines the organisation's long-term commitment to promoting folk music and folk dance in Norway.
