Fontenehuset Oslo centrum is a working community for people with mental illness, and is part of an international organization that has used the fountain house model since the 1940s. The model is based on experience and knowledge, and focuses on rehabilitation through work and relationships. The house has 56 members present daily, of which 37% are in paid work.
The organization emphasizes inclusion and mastery, and offers training in the fountain house model to support members in their development. The atmosphere is characterized by support and security, which helps the members to regain faith in themselves. Fontenehuset also works with various partners to promote development and better mental health, and gives members a sense of belonging in everyday life.
