Maritakafeen is a non-profit organization that offers a low-threshold café service for drug addicts in the center of Oslo. Since its inception in 1996, the cafe has been an important meeting place for people who want care and motivation for a life without drugs. The cafe is open to everyone, regardless of background, and aims to create a community characterized by support and understanding.
The cafe gives visitors the opportunity to relax, enjoy something to eat and drink, as well as participate in warm conversations and devotions. Maritakafeen also conducts outreach work in the local area to reach more people in need. Volunteers can contribute to the operation of the cafe, which further strengthens the community. The cafe's opening hours vary, with fixed evenings in Babtsitkirken on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as reduced opening hours Monday to Wednesday pending a new cafe premises.
