The Norwegian Allotment Garden Association was founded in 1927 and its main focus is to secure and establish allotment gardens in Norway. The association works to promote allotment gardens as important green areas in cities and densely built-up areas, and contributes to improving the growing up conditions for children as well as the quality of life for adults. The colony gardens function as accessible parks and green lungs, which give the residents the opportunity to grow their own plants and enjoy nature.
The association also organizes national meetings and international allotment congresses, where participants from several European countries gather to share experiences and knowledge. In 2025, the national meeting will be held in Sogn garden colony in Oslo. In addition, the association has recently gained a new member, the Manglerud parcel garden association, which consists of 19 parcels. Through its work, the Norwegian Colony Garden Association contributes to promoting community and sustainable development in urban areas.
