The relatives' center in Oslo, also known as the PIO centre, functions as a support center and competence center for relatives' cooperation. The center is run by LPP Oslo in collaboration with Oslo municipality, and aims to strengthen the interaction between patients, relatives and healthcare personnel. The counselors at the center have their own experience as relatives, which gives them a unique understanding of the challenges that relatives can face.
The offer includes personal representation, group offers, courses and counseling sessions, and is available to both individuals and families. The center has also developed a coping book for relatives, which is linked to group programs to support and guide them in their situation. In addition, the PIO center offers a national helpline, which gives relatives the opportunity to get help and advice regardless of where they are.
