The LAMS foundation was established in 1996 as a CSR initiative and its main purpose is to support the operation and further development of the LAMS school in Sultan Town, Faisalabad, Pakistan. The foundation is registered with the Norwegian Foundations Authority with organization number 982.405.955. The LAMS school offers preschool, primary and secondary education, and has close to 1,000 pupils, a large proportion of whom are girls.
The school focuses on providing quality education to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to go to school. Many of the students are the first in their families to go to school. The foundation offers free education for the children of employees at the Bokhari weaving mill, as well as subsidized schooling for other children. Each year, over 25 girls graduate with scholarships for further education, which contributes to increased social participation and personal development.
