Stiftelsen Mariahuset is an ecumenical community that was established in 1975, inspired by the L'Arche movement. The community is connected to both the Catholic Church and the Norwegian Church, and works to create an inclusive environment for people with developmental disabilities. Mariahuset emphasizes mutual everyday community, where work, prayer and the sharing of joys and sorrows are central.
Faith in Christ is a sustaining force in the community, and regular prayer meetings and services are offered in the house's chapel. The foundation is in the process of being recognized as a lay community by both churches, which underlines their desire to bridge the traditions and create a space for spiritual growth and community.
