Harbor AS, established in 2021, has its origins in Hjelmeland and has developed into a player in the production of solutions against salmon lice. The company specializes in providing preventive measures using an enveloping electromagnetic field around fish farming cages. This measure is designed to reduce the uncertainty associated with lice larvae that can enter the cages, while not posing any risk to the health of the salmon.
The production and maintenance facility is located at Viganeskai in Hjelmeland, where Harbor AS has carried out extensive verification and piloting of its solutions on commercial large-scale facilities from 2015 to 2019. The company has achieved successful technical and mechanical verification through two salmon generations, with the pilot facilities being completed in the spring of 2020. Today, Harbor AS is in commercial operation and delivers its services to customers along the entire coast, with installation and service carried out by its own competent teams.
